"Schafer channels Kristen Wiig and Cecily Strong at the same time and kills the comedic counterpoint"

"Especially when the cast starts playing things broadly, while keeping the characters grounded, which perfectly defines Maddie Schafer’s performance as Eliante. Schafer used her voice, face and body to punctuate her passionate dialogue"

-Duluth News Tribune (Lots of hot comedy in 'The School for Lies')

Maddie Schafer’s lilting voice is used to good effect as Paula’s Mother in ‘Let Me Hold You’ and the ‘Finale'"

-Duluth News Tribune (UMD's 'Maxa' has its' flaws, but delivers the big moment)

“I was struck by how often supporting characters got laughs, especially Schafer and Kern'"

About Me!

Hiya folks! My name is Maddie Schafer and I am an actress, choreographer and teacher of young artists. I have been singing loudly in church choir since I was a wee lass in the suburbs of the Twin Cities, and have continued to raise my voice up to the heavens ever since.

After four chaotic and magical years, I graduated the University of Minnesota Duluth with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance with Emphasis in Musical Theatre and an Applied Dance Minor! In Duluth I performed and taught under the Duluth Playhouse where I was the Summer Camps Director and Interim Director of Education and Children's Programming for the summer and into fall. When I’m not teaching dance and theatre classes or choreographing, I'm a nanny, a proud plant mom and love to hang out with my doggo Bella!

When I was in a senior in high school, I was lucky enough to assistant teach a class called Dance Mania, a musical theatre and dance class for kids and young adults with special needs at Lundstrum Performing Arts in North Minneapolis. My students inspired me with their passion for performing to follow my own dreams and have led me to where I am today.

What's Up Next?

Currently I am a Dance Instructor for Spark Music and Dance, Theatre Instructor for Mayers Arts, and a choreographer for schools around the Twin Cities including Benilde-St. Margaret's and Valley View Middle School. I am also an actor for the Dinner Detective in Minneapolis.

April 28th-May 13th I will be performing in a new musical called "No Small Parts" at the Historic Mound Theatre in St. Paul with Fearless Comedy Productions. I'm ecstatic to be making my Twin Cities performance debut as Melanie Hunt, a diva Soprano 1. This family friendly show is perfect for theatre lovers (to laugh at ourselves) and theatre newbies (to get a glimpse into the chaos we call rehearsal!) Click the photo below for more info!
